With the HJC RPHA-12, the full-face helmet that was once considered one of the best (RPHA-11) now has an ECE R22.06-certified successor. This is the most advanced ‘ordinary’ full-face helmet in the HJC lineup, showcasing impressive technical ingenuity.

The motorcycle helmet shell is crafted using the PIM EVO, Premium Integrated Matrix method. This incorporates materials like fiberglass, aramid, and carbon to achieve a very light (approximately 1500 grams) yet sturdy helmet shell. The various sizes of this helmet are spread across four shell sizes. The shape of the shell has been specially tested in wind tunnels to be as aerodynamic as possible. The rear spoiler is a visual consequence of this design, and HJC asserts that you can fully utilize your motorcycle’s speedometer with this helmet.

The numerous ventilation openings at the front are eye-catching and ensure the sporty rider has sufficient oxygen on the go. The central chin vent is adjustable in two positions. The grilled openings on the left and right also contribute, and just above the transparent visor is the fourth vent, which directly cools the rider’s forehead. The dual top ventilation has a very handy mechanism that makes opening and closing surprisingly easy and convenient. Even when closed, the airstream glides through the recess (without entering the helmet shell), preventing play, upward drafts, and excessive noise. At the rear, two non-closable air outlets in the spoiler ensure all warm air finds a way out. The vents and air outlets are internally connected via the ‘ACS’ system (Advanced Channeling Ventilation System), and these integrated air channels in the inner shell distribute fresh air over the rider’s entire head.

The HJC RPHA-12 comes standard with a transparent visor, but you will also find a second, smoked visor with a dark tint in the box. Scratch-resistant and Pinlock®-prepared, this is a given for a helmet of this caliber. The Pinlock® lens is included.

Thanks to the RapidFire Shield Replacement System, the visor can be easily replaced without tools, which is very handy in this case. Both the tinted and transparent visors are designed to offer a wider peripheral view, and the visor lock in the closed position ensures a good, tight fit on the helmet. When you open the visor completely, you’ll notice a slightly firmer ‘click’. It’s well put together—literally and figuratively—that much is certain.

For a full-face helmet capable of testing speedometers, a double-D ring fastener is, of course, the only one allowed for use on the racetrack. It is located at the end of a comfortable chin strap. In case of an emergency, rescue services can better assess the situation and, if necessary, remove the helmet more easily thanks to the Emergency Kit Cheek Pads.

The interior of the RPHA-12 consists of a washable, antibacterial, moisture-wicking, and temperature-regulating fabric. This wicks away perspiration and prevents unpleasant odors. The interior is removable and hand washable.

The chin curtain and breath deflector are standard included items, just like the Pinlock® lens. They help increase comfort.

Eyeglass wearers can easily find their way into the HJC RPHA-12 thanks to a couple of smart cutouts.
